Leaving Britain

We set off on our travels at 8:20pm on Thursday 23rd September from Heathrow Airport. Although our final destination was to be China, we took the opportunity of travelling to Hong Kong to travel somewhat further and visit Jane’s sister and family in New Zealand before returning to Hong Kong. Before setting off, we had sorted out our house ready for renting out, tried to make sure that we had sorted out all our affairs so that we could manage them from China, preferably over the internet, and said goodbye to our family and friends. We finally finished packing our suitcases and putting everything else into the loft at about 5:30pm the day before we flew.

Over 150 boxes had been packed and then carried up into the loft and stacked away. By the time we had half completed this task we were both suffering from many aches and pains, but thanks to help from various friends the task was finally completed. Our car went to its new owner a couple of days before we left and tenants had been found for our house who were due to move in on 24th September.

Jenni our daughter drove us down to Reading where we spent time with Andy our son and Sam our grandson. Unfortunately Jenni was not too well with a chest infection, Geoff had a lot of pain in one shoulder and Jane had a migraine and was vomiting a lot. Following some medication and pra**r, we were on the flight and rested for 12 hours. The flights and transfer in Hong Kong were OK and we were delighted to get off planes in Auckland, New Zealand and be met by Jane’s sister, Anne, and her husband Dave. We were also pleased to get to bed that night and then know we had a couple of weeks to chill out.

Sorry no photos yet. Some should be arriving soon.
